What is the process for providing academic records when I enroll my child in TOPS? And what is the process for obtaining academic records when I need to transfer my child after?
- Incoming: Parents should submit requested records through the parent portal. Our registrars will follow up with the prior school to obtain the academic file of the student.
- Leaving: Parents can submit a request for records – Report Card Link or Transcript Link, or email TOPS info [email protected] with the written request for records. Please make sure to include contact information when emailing.
Will my child have options to engage and socialize with other students?
With online engagement activities, including school art competitions, STEM events, student associations, and online clubs, K12-powered online extracurricular activities unite students as they unwind, have fun, and explore shared passions. Learn more about our opportunities for socialization and enrichment.
In addition, military-connected students at TOPS have access to virtual social hours with other military-connected students in their grade band. We also celebrate Purple Up Day, Month of the Military Child, and Military Family Appreciation Month with both virtual events and in-person experiences.
If we are out-of-state at the time of required state testing, are we required to return for the test?
The state of TX does not allow for exemptions from state testing for any reason. However, with a PCS order, TOPS will not withdraw your student due to absence from STAAR/EOC testing.
For high school students, the State of Texas requires passing scores in 5 mandatory End-of-Course Exams: Algebra 1, English 1, English 2, US History, and Biology. If you are out-of-state and unable to return for the typical May administration, make-ups will be offered each subsequent June and December.
