Campus-Based Military Liaisons
At TOPS, we have campus-based military liaisons who welcome students, help students connect with peers and find a place of belonging at school, facilitate orientation, offer support for academic success, provide social emotional support, provide professional development to staff on the unique needs of military-connected students, and provide opportunities for the school community to learn about and support military families.
Meet Your TOPS Military Liaisons

Jessica Hooks, Social Worker
Hi, my name is Jessica Hooks and I am proud to be the daughter and granddaughter of two Marine Veterans. My father served in the Vietnam War and my maternal grandfather served in the Korean War and the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. As a social worker and therapist, I have been honored to work with multiple Military families both on and off bases. For 6 years, I served as a volunteer therapist for Camp COPE, a therapeutic weekend camp for the fallen, wounded, and deployed soldiers and their children at bases across the United States. I look forward to working with our Military families! You can reach me at [email protected] or 469.232.7228.

Monica Martinez, Middle School Liaison
Hello! My name is Monica Martinez, and I come from a family with a deep connection to military service. My uncles all served in different branches of the military before they passed, and their commitment to our country has always been a source of inspiration for me. My brother served in the Navy Reserves, and my sister dedicated 12 years to the Army, where she is now a proud veteran. Their experiences and sacrifices have shaped my appreciation for service, resilience, and dedication. I’m grateful to carry forward these values in everything I do, honoring their legacy through my own journey on the Military Liaison Committee. You can reach me at [email protected] or 682.990.7257.

Melissa Guerrero, Middle School Liaison
Hello! My name is Melissa Guerrero, but you can call me Mrs. G. We are a very proud multigenerational military family. We have family members serving in every branch of the Military. My mother served in the United States Army, and my father was a member of the United States Coast Guard. My cousins are currently serving in the Air Force, Marines, and in the Space Force. My husband is currently a Chief in the Coast Guard. We have had the privileged and have faced the struggles of living all over the United States. But no matter the branch we are all military families that love to support each other in any way. We all know what it is like to love someone who is not always able to be there with us, and to move around every few years. Leaving everyone you know for a new and unfamiliar place. I can’t wait to meet you all and look forward to the year to come. Semper Paratus! You can reach me at [email protected] or 682.990.7387.

Mrs. Michon, High School Liaison
Hello! My name is Mrs. Michon (formerly Ms. McKenzie), and I am an Army brat. My mother was an Army nurse, my father was field artillery (retired as a colonel), my sister retired as a major, and my brother-in-law is about to retire after twenty years of service. In addition, six of my uncles served (most in the Army, but one is a Marine and one was in the Navy), both my grandfathers served in the Army. My paternal grandfather served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, and my maternal grandfather retired as a two star general. My military roots go deep, and I know what it is like to love someone who serves. Let me know if you need anything. Go Army, Beat Navy! You can reach me at [email protected], 682.990.8501, or 817.767.9118.
